Four Tips for Organizing Your Playroom

Have you felt defeated by the mess in the playroom, nearly every inch of the floor covered with toys? Or maybe it feels pointless and you’ve given up altogether on trying to keep things organized?

If you can relate, try these four tips to begin creating a system that works for both you and your child:

  • Reduce clutter: Overflowing bins and piles of toys may be visually overstimulating - not only for you, but also for your child. Commit to going through one bin or cabinet each day and donate toys that your child has outgrown.

  • Create a rotation: Keep some toys in the playroom and others stored away. Every few weeks, rotate them out to keep your child’s interest and generate a renewed excitement.

  • Store toys in see-through containers: Organize toys into transparent containers of different sizes. Instead of endlessly searching through bins and dumping their contents out, this will make it easier for you and your child to locate toys.

  • Keep open-ended toys easily accessible: Some of the best toys are those that can be used in a variety of different ways. Keep them in a place that your child can easily access to keep them engaged while fostering imagination and creative thinking.
